Defending champion Stallion Gilligan’s needed a bit of luck to beat Kaya FC, 1-nil, for its first victory in the United Football League on Tuesday at Emperador Stadium.

After a Stallion attack at the 36th minute failed to produce a goal, Kaya looked to get back on offense after securing the ball.

But Kaya defender Andrew Liauw made a huge miscue after his clearance attempt went into his team’s goal, handing Stallion a 1-nil lead that it held for the rest of the match.

It was Stallion’s first triumph after starting the season with two draws and a loss. The squad moved up to fifth place in the table with five points.

Kaya suffered its second loss along with two victories in its record to remain in a three-way tie for second place with six points.
